Texas offensive lineman Kent Perkins was arrested early Friday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Travis County police.

Perkins was arrested at 2:52 a.m. CT on Sept. 23 and booked at 4:54 a.m. The senior has started 26 games in his career, including two starts at right guard this season.

"We're disappointed in his actions and take a strong stance against drinking and driving," coach Charlie Strong said in a statement. "When you get behind the wheel after drinking, you not only risk your life, but the lives of others, and that's something you just can't do. We will make sure that Kent learns from this and handle any punishment once we have more information."

Texas has a bye this weekend and Perkins' status for the Oct. 1 game in Stillwater against Oklahoma State is still unknown.
