Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Added to 40-man roster

Vargas was added to Arizona's 40-man roster on Friday.

The Diamondbacks wanted to protect Vargas from the Rule 5 draft. He showcased an excellent approach at Double-A and Triple-A last year, posting a 39:44 K:BB in 525 at-bats across both levels. However, Vargas lacks any standout tools to compliment that approach, so he will likely max out as an up-and-down bench bat.
