Giants' Tim Federowicz: Contract purchased by Giants

Federowicz was added to the Giants' 25-man roster Tuesday.

With Buster Posey headed to the 7-day disabled list, Federowicz will serve as the Giants' backup catcher until he is back. With a capable Nick Hundley ahead of him, it's unlikely that Federowicz will see much playing time during his brief stint with San Francisco.
