Allen, 23, was promoted to Double-A Akron on Monday after slashing .298/.424/.402 with four home runs and 38 steals on 45 attempts in 346 at-bats with High-A Lynchburg.

Allen is a bit of a late bloomer, but the general feeling is that he is a legitimate prospect, as he profiles as an above-average defender with an excellent approach and plus-plus speed. He is less heralded than Clint Frazier and Bradley Zimmer, but could become a big part of the Indians' long-term plans if Frazier or Zimmer are moved at this year's trade deadline.
