Gonzalez was granted an unconditional release on Wednesday, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Gonzalez was in the mix for the last rotation spot, but after carrying a 12.56 ERA in five spring training starts, Gonzalez was granted his release. He went 9-12 with a 4.91 ERA last season and should find a home in the back-end of a rotation somewhere.
