Nationals' Pedro Severino: Optioned to Triple-A

Severino was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, MASN's Mark Zuckerman reports.

This was inevitable, as the Nationals want Severino to get regular playing time and that wasn't going to happen behind Matt Wieters. Jose Lobaton will serve as the backup, but Severino will be the first catcher summoned if either of the big league backstops suffers an injury.
