Cosart was traded to the Padres on Friday as part of a deal that sends Andrew Cashner to the Marlins, ESPN's Jayson Stark reports.

Cosart has had mixed success during his big league career and has started just 17 major league games over the last two seasons, but he is just 26 years old and will provide the Padres with a controllable starting pitching option for the next several years. Given that the Padres traded two starters to the Marlins on Friday and still have several other starters on the disabled list, there is a good chance Cosart jumps right into the rotation for his new squad.
