Hellickson threw six innings and allowed just one unearned run in Monday's Opening Day loss against the Reds, but was left with a no-decision. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
Hellickson was brilliant and likely would have gone deeper if this was a midseason start -- he needed just 79 pitches (55 strikes, including 11 swinging) to get through 18 outs. Unfortunately, the Phillies gave him just two runs of support and his bullpen gave up five runs in the eighth inning, so even if Hellickson can maintain this kind of performance against lineups deeper than the Reds, he's unlikely to rack up too many wins in 2016.
