Pirates' Jung-Ho Kang: Will open season on DL

Kang (knee) will open the season on the DL and return in mid-to-late April, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The Pirates have already signed David Freese to a one-year deal to fill the hole during April. While Freese could compete for playing time when Kang is healthy, Biertempfel also notes that Kang will be the everyday third baseman when he comes back.
