Red Sox's Tyler Thornburg: Moves to 60-day DL

Thornburg (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Thursday, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.

The Red Sox needed room on the 40-man roster for Thursday's starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick, and with Thornburg still not throwing off a mound, he was the logical choice to bump off the roster for the time being. The latest update on Thornburg's health was that he was long-tossing, which would hopefully put him on track to throw off a mound sometime in the next week or two.
