Rockies' Jairo Diaz: Needs Tommy John surgery

Diaz (elbow) will need Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL in his right elbow, The Denver Post reports.

Diaz suffered the injury Saturday and will now miss the entire 2016 campaign. He was previously expected to compete for a spot in the big-league bullpen, having posted a 2.37 ERA and 18:6 K:BB over 19 innings with the Rockies last season. The good news is that Diaz is still only 24 years old and has a fastball that regularly reaches the high-90s.
