The Buccaneers have traded safety Dashon Goldson to the Redskins for an undisclosed 2016 draft pick, according to the team's official website on Friday. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Albert Breer of NFL Media, Tampa Bay will give up a seventh-round pick in 2016 in exchange for a Washington sixth-round pick in 2016.
Goldson spent his first six years in the NFL with the 49ers before signing a five-year, $41.25 million contract with Tampa Bay in March of 2013. He has totaled 499 tackles, three sacks, seven forced fumbles and 15 interceptions in 108 career games (91 starts). Last season, he racked up 81 tackles in 14 games.
Goldson will turn 31 at the start of the season, and is due $8 million this season. According to ProFootballTalk.com, Tampa Bay will pay the $4 million fully guaranteed under his contract for the 2015 season.
