Girardi has been ruled out for Game 2 against the Penguins on Saturday with an undisclosed injury, Frank Seravalli of TSN reports.
Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said it's "the whole thing" when asked to clarify whether Girardi is sidelined by a lower- or upper-body ailment. Either way, the defenseman's absence is unlikely to affect your fantasy lineup as he is currently stuck in a 16-game pointless streak along with a goal drought that dates back to mid-November. While the Rangers will be hard pressed to replace the 31-year-old, his value is further diminished by his lack of power-play minutes. Look to Dylan McIlrath as the possible fill in on the blue line.
