Johns scored the first goal of his career in the third period Thursday against Tampa, tying the game at 3-3 en route to a 4-3 win.

Johns' hits had been far more noteworthy than his offense over his first three games in the league, as he'd racked up 15 without taking a shot on goal in that span. That said, the 2010 second-round pick hasn't been a total black hole offensively in the AHL, which is important. The 23-year-old blueliner saw his minutes spike to 21:58 in this one, a significant improvement from those other three contests that bears monitoring.
