If you know anything about pierogies, you know that they're a Northeastern delicacy.
If you know nothing about pierogies, then here, let Wikipedia learn you: "They are made by wrapping pockets of unleavened dough around a savory or sweet filling and cooking them in boiling water." So dough and a savory or sweet filling. Got it? Good.
Here's another thing you should know about pierogies: They're going to serve as a baseball team's nickname soon.
The Yankees' Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are changing their name for a night, becoming the Pierogies on August 26.

You might ask, why? There's no real reason.
Minor-league teams are always looking for a way to catch eyes, or special attractions to draw fans through the gates. As such, having a night dedicated to pierogies seems as sound of a strategy as anything else. If the Fresno Grizzlies can become the Tacos for a night, anything is possible.
