Saturday night in Omaha, Texas Christian and Coastal Carolina will meet in an elimination game in the College World Series. The loser goes home and the winner advances to the CWS Final against the winner of Saturday's Arizona vs. Oklahoma game.

There's much more riding on Saturday night's game than a CWS Finals berth, however.

Cubs ace Jake Arrieta, a TCU alum, and infielder Tommy La Stella, a Coastal Carolina alum, have a tattoo bet riding on the game. The loser has to get the tattoo of the other school's logo.

From Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun Times:

Cubs ace Jake Arrieta (TCU) and infielder Tommy La Stella (Coastal Carolina) have some serious body ink on the line as their alma maters face off in the College World Series.

The one whose school eliminates the other pays off by getting a tattoo representing the other guy's school (though no requirements on the size or location).

"And I'm tattoo-less," said La Stella, who already owes a smaller payoff for TCU's earlier win over the Chanticleers (i.e., Chickens). "It's significant."

I can't say I would be willing to make a tattoo bet based on something completely out of my control, but hey, Arrieta and La Stella are much braver fellows than I. They'll surely be glued to the game Saturday night.

For what it's worth, Coastal Carolina beat TCU on Friday to force Saturday's elimination game (CCU 4, TCU 1). The Chanticleers won that game despite being held to four hits. Three walks, a hit-by-pitch, and an error helped them score those four runs.

Here are the full College World Series results to date. The finals are a best-of-three series. Neither TCU nor Coastal Carolina have ever won a CWS title in their histories.
