The San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals will meet this week in a rematch of the 2014 World Series. They're scheduled to play a quick two-game series at Kauffman Stadium starting Tuesday night.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy will not be with his team for the series, however. Bochy is resting comfortably at home following a minor heart procedure Tuesday morning, the team announced. He will rejoin the club Friday for the series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Here are some more details from Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area:

The team announced Tuesday that Bochy underwent a minor ablation procedure in the morning to alleviate discomfort related to an atrial flutter, which is an abnormal heart rhythm. Bochy has had several heart-related issues in recent years. Last season, he was hospitalized in Miami with an irregular heartbeat. He had two stents inserted two years ago during spring training.

Bochy, 62, has said in the past his ongoing heart issues will not push him away from baseball or force him to retire. This is his 11th season managing the Giants. Only Los Angeles Angels skipper Mike Scioscia has a longer tenure among MLB managers.

Bench coach Ron Wotus will manage the Giants during Bochy's absence.
