Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada on Wednesday hit the disabled list with back problems and will be out until after the All-Star break. Earlier this week, Estrada was named to the American League All-Star team, so he'll obviously be unable to fulfill those duties. So on Thursday, AL manager Ned Yost named Indians right-hander Corey Kluber as Estrada's replacement.

Kluber this season has pitched to a 3.79 ERA (123 ERA+) and a 4.22 K/BB ratio in 114 innings pitched. At present, Kluber ranks fourth in the AL in innings, fifth in strikeouts, and first in FIP . Kluber, 30, won the AL Cy Young Award in 2014, but this marks his first All-Star appearance.

Coincidentally, this year's All-Star Game takes place in San Diego, and Kluber was originally drafted and signed by the Padres out of Stetson University in 2007. At the 2010 non-waiver trade deadline, though, the Padres dealt him to Cleveland as part of a three-team trade with the Cardinals that brought Ryan Ludwick to San Diego.
