Known collector says he was assaulted over ball at Yankee Stadium
Zack Hample, the expert retriever of foul balls and home runs, says he took the worst of it in a Yankee Stadium scrum on Wednesday.
On the occasion of Alex Rodriguez's 3,000th hit -- a home run at Yankee Stadium -- we got to know Zack Hample, the authority when it comes to retrieving foul balls and home runs hit into the stands. Hample, of couse, caught A-Rod's milestone ball and later presented it to him in exchange for a donation to a charity he supports.
On Tuesday night in the Bronx (one night after catching his 1,000th ball at Yankee), Hample alleges he was assaulted while trying to secure a ball hit into the seats prior to the Orioles-Yankees game ...

More from Hample:
I'm scraped up in various places. The @Yankees Stadium medical staff says these are fingernail scratches: pic.twitter.com/EqO773iZj1

On the other hand, things turned out OK for Hample a bit later, as he snared Ryan Flaherty's third-inning home run ...
Well, I might've had some pre-game "issues," but I caught Ryan Flaherty's 3rd-inning homer. Take THAT, universe!! pic.twitter.com/MEe2CCCxVS

And here's video of it -- i.e., the home run ball, not the alleged assault.
As for the occupational hazard of note, consider all of that to be ... developing.
