LOOK: Jason Kipnis' injured ankle doesn't look good before Game 1 of World Series
Consider this to be a painful looking Grade 2 ankle sprain for Cleveland's second baseman
As noted in this very space, Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis may be somewhat limited in Game 1 of the World Series against the Cubs on Tuesday night because of the left ankle injury he suffered while celebrating the last out of the ALCS.
By way of reminder, here's how the injury occurred ...
Got a little too close to @Lindor12BC during the celebration!! Freak accident but should be good to go by Tuesday! #cantkeepmeoutofthisgame! pic.twitter.com/2DKgpzP0lq

And here's how that ankle looked the morning of Game 1 ...

Yeesh, that doesn't look good. Anyhow, here's what the unimpeachable Podiatry Today says about Grade 2 ankle sprains ...
Grading for sprains is simple. Grade 1 is a minor strain with no tear. Grade 2 is a partial tear. Grade 3 is a full tear. Often, the level of pain in a grade 3 full tear is less than a partial tear and results in the patient seeking less treatment.
So Mr. Kipnis is very likely feeling it right now. He's almost certainly going to answer the bell Tuesday night, but his speed may be compromised, as well as his ability to move laterally in the field. That's also his drive leg at the plate, so that's a consideration, as well. Gamer, this guy.
