LOOK: Yasiel Puig congratulates a Rio gold medalist with a familiar last name
No, the two Puigs are not related
It's no secret being in the big leagues is better than being in Triple-A. The pay is way better, as are the perks and travel. The minor leagues are a real grind.
Yasiel Puig is currently in Triple-A, which means he did not play in the Dodgers game against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon (LAD 8, PIT 4). He was instead in Oklahoma City with his Triple-A teammates, waiting for Saturday night's game against El Paso.
The afternoon off gave Puig time to watch the Olympics, specifically his namesake Monica Puig. No, the two Puigs are not related -- Monica is from Puerto Rico, Yasiel from Cuba -- but that didn't stop Yasiel from enjoying Monica's tennis gold medal win.

#VivaPuig is a good hashtag, I'd say.
Monica won her match against No. 2-ranked Angelique Kerber in three sets: 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. It was not only a huge upset -- Puig is ranked the No. 34 tennis player in the world -- that's also the first Olympic gold in Puerto Rico's history. That's pretty cool.
Congrats to Monica Puig for her historic achievement. She's got Yasiel pulling for her, and I guess that means she has to return the favor now.
