The Marlins (road team) and Braves (home) will play a historic game Sunday night. It'll take place on an active military base in the newly-constructed Fort Bragg Field to honor the military on the eve of Independence Day. Here's a quick video on the first-ever Fort Bragg Game:

Here's a time lapse of the field being constructed:

The field dimensions: 331 feet down the lines, 387 to the power alleys and 405 to dead center. Per the press release by MLB, it is symmetrical.

After the game, the stadium "will be converted to a permanent multi-purpose recreational facility for those who serve at Fort Bragg, a gift courtesy of the Major League Clubs and Players," according to MLB.

Here are five more things to know:

1. The crowd will mostly be military

The stadium has 12,500 seats and, per MLB, "the vast majority" of those seats are reserved for service members and their families.

2. It goes beyond the game

From MLB's press release:

This week, in honor of the game at Fort Bragg, the Players Trust provided a $100,000 grant to the nonprofit, Our Military Kids, and the Trust annually hosts youth instructional clinics for the children of military and veterans, including one at Andrews Air Force Base this past Tuesday. Players including Zach Britton, Kris Bryant, Steve Cishek, Ross Detwiler, Brian Dozier, Freddie Freeman, Javier Lopez, Jonathan Lucroy, Charlie Morton, Darren O'Day, Jake Peavy, Dustin Pedroia, Trevor Plouffe, Craig Stammen, Justin Verlander and Brad Ziegler support organizations such as Defending the Baseline, Pastime for Patriots, Savannah's Soldiers, Operation Troop Appreciation, USO, Wins for Warriors and Wounded Warriors.

3. The game itself could have playoff implications

This isn't some throwaway game. The Miami Marlins are 42-39 and only 1 1/2 games out of the second NL wild card spot. They are an exciting young team with the potential to knock a few balls out of the yard, as Justin Bour, Marcell Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton all have at least 15 homers so far this season.

4. Last time Adam Conley saw the Braves, he dominated

It was June 22 and Conley worked eight scoreless innings, allowing only four hits and a walk. Overall this season, Conley has been good, albeit not consistent. Still, this is a favorable matchup for him.

5. This is no cinch for the Marlins

The Braves have already taken two of three in this series and are 8-3 against the Marlins this season. In fact, as things stand, the Braves are the main reason the Marlins aren't in playoff position. So maybe it'll be a fun game in Fort Bragg Field. Let's watch some baseball and celebrate America!
