Matt Harvey apologizes to Mets for missing curfew, playing golf before suspension
The right-hander was recently suspended by the Mets for violating team rules
The Mets recently handed out a three-game suspension to right-hander Matt Harvey for a violation of team rules. According to most reports, this is because Harvey didn't show up to the ballpark on Saturday, possibly after golfing and coming down with a migraine. There's also one report that says Harvey was out drinking the night before until the wee hours.
Whatever the reason, the whole thing has been light on official statements, at least until Harvey on Tuesday faced the buzzing media for the first time since being disciplined. Here's his opening statement:

To summarize, Harvey admits to being out past curfew on Friday night and then golfing on Saturday before taking a sick day. More from Harvey:

As for the report that he'd file a grievance in response to his suspension ...
Harvey was asked about filing a grievance. While he said that's not on his mind, he also didn't rule it out.

Compounding all of this is that Harvey's willful mistake comes amid what's been a disappointing season for the 28-year-old (5.14 ERA and 1.54 K/BB ratio after six starts). He's likely to return to the mound on Friday against the Brewers.
