Mets seem to have trust issues with Harvey, reportedly sent people to check on him
Manager Terry Collins also says that he doesn't know if Harvey's teammates respect him or not
The soap opera that is the 2017 Mets season had another twist on Monday when Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported the following on Matt Harvey's suspension:
Harvey is said to have answered his own door in his pajamas, and word from people who've spoken to him is that the Mets emissaries weren't doctors or caretakers but rather people who quizzed him about about what was going on with him. The implication he apparently got: the team was checking to see if he was really at home, and really ill. (He definitely was at home; on that score everyone agrees.)
The full story is worth a read, as it totally lays out just how ridiculous this whole situation has become. On Harvey's side, he says he texted the Mets after waking up from a nap with the worst migraine headache of his life. The Mets story is that the text chain was started by pitching coach Dan Warthen when Harvey hadn't yet shown up to the ballpark. Harvey believes the Mets were checking to make sure he wasn't lying while the Mets side says the team was worried because Harvey wasn't responding and that's why they sent two security people to see if he needed help.
Regardless, Harvey was suspended for three games and he'll actually pitch next on Friday, per multiple Mets beat writers. They would also like him to speak with his teammates:
The Mets are going to encourage Matt Harvey to address his teammates once he returns. Sounds like Friday in MIL will be his next start.

At least one teammate was openly critical of Harvey on Sunday, as Jose Reyes spoke out.
"We're disappointed. We have to understand, we're employees. You have to come to your job every day," Reyes said (nydailynews.com). "We count on him."
Manager Terry Collins was asked on Monday if Harvey has the respect of the locker room and, well, his answer wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement for Harvey:
Asked if Matt Harvey's teammates respect him, Terry Collins said, "I can't answer that. I don't know." Didn't want to speak for whole team.

On the surface, it's a fair thing to say. Collins can't speak for everyone. But we can imagine the answer if Collins were asked if Curtis Granderson, David Wright, Jacob deGrom or Yoenis Cespedes were respected in the locker room, right? Surely he'd just answer "yes" right away. So the answer above is pretty problematic from the perspective of Harvey as a teammate.
Maybe Harvey can start gaining back some of the locker room respect if he addresses the team upon his return from suspension.
The only sure thing here, however, is that the soap opera will continue in Mets Land this season. The ratings have been too strong for it to just go away.
