According to CBS Miami, a search warrant affidavit says that all three victims in the September boat crash that took the life of Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez and two of his friends had "a strong odor of alcohol" when divers recovered them.
The Miami-Dade state attorney released the warrant on Tuesday. While toxicology tests have been run, the results have not been released by authorities. Investigators also said that a receipt for alcohol was found in the pocket of one of the victims. Here's more from CBS Miami:
... [I]nvestigators found evidence that the vessel was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into a jetty off Government Cut, which is off the coast of Miami Beach.
Fernandez, who had established himself as one of the most dominating pitchers in baseball and had become a beacon to Miami's large Cuban-American community, was just 24 years of age.
