The fastest player in MLB is nowhere near as fast as Olympic champion Usain Bolt
Bolt ran 90 feet more than three-tenths of a second faster than Byron Buxton
Sunday night, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt became the first man to win three consecutive gold medals in the 100-meter dash. His winning time was 9.81 seconds.
How does Bolt's time compare to the fastest MLB player? It blows it out of the water. The folks behind Statcast did the math:
Fastest home-to-1B time in @MLB in '16: @OfficialBuck103's 3.25 seconds.@usainbolt's projected time? 2.94 seconds. pic.twitter.com/1bzYrhq6GG

The differences between starting a sprint and running out of the box following a swing are obvious, but in terms of raw speed, Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is not even close to Bolt.
Buxton recorded that fastest time on a triple back in April. Here's the video:
Byron Buxton: Not slow. Also not as fast as Usain Bolt.
