Trade Deadline Tweet of the Day: Dan Haren's self deprecating humor at its best
The former MLB starter has a great, self-deprecating sense of humor
Major League Baseball's non-waiver trade deadline is Monday at 4 p.m. ET and we've got a live blog to keep you apprised of all the rumors in real time. In the meantime, let us gaze upon the outstanding sense of self-deprecating humor of Dan Haren. Note that Haren was acquired by the Cubs last season just prior to the deadline.
The trade deadline just doesn't seem the same without me being every team's fallback option. Oh wait.... pic.twitter.com/sw3bUoYoGo

He even searched for people talking smack about him! Classic.
Haren posted a 4.01 ERA in 11 starts down the stretch for the Cubs, which isn't awful for a number five starter by any stretch. He wasn't exactly a game-changer, though.
Still, Haren did have an admirable career. He went to three All-Star Games and even started one (2007 for the AL). He recorded over 2,000 strikeouts, pitched in the World Series and made over $80 million. When you have those chops, it's probably a lot easier to swallow the negative comments. It's not like Haren didn't know he was winding down. His Twitter handle is "ithrow88" (I Throw 88) after all.
