Twitter reacts to Bartolo Colon hitting his first career home run
Bartolo Colon hit his first career home run Saturday night. Twitter reacted exactly how you'd expect.
As I'm sure you know by now, Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon hit his first career home run Saturday night. Here's the video in case you've somehow missed it:
Man, Gary Cohen's call is an all-timer. That's so good. So, so good.
Colon is, unquestionably, one of the most entertaining players in all of baseball. Between the unbridled joy with which he plays the game and his huggable frame, Colon is so fun to watch. He's a baseball treasure.
As you'd expect, Twitter reacted apprpriately to Colon's dinger. First, we have some stats:
Statcast had Bartolo Colon's homer off the bat at a cool 97 mph. It landed 365 feet away. No matter how you slice it, it was perfect. #Mets

3 Mets have homered at age 42 or later

Bartolo Colon
Bartolo Colon circled the bases in 30.58 secs on his first career tater trot. Somehow it feels both super slow and amazingly fast.

And now for the jokes:
.@RealJoshReddick just recorded his seventh hit of the doubleheader but you missed it because you were watching Bartolo gifs we forgive you

Bartolo Colon would be tied for second on the Atlanta Braves in home runs right now.

Whoever called the Kentucky Derby the greatest two minutes in sports hasn't seen Bartolo Colon's home run trot.

There is exactly one person in America who is living his best life in 2016.
— Dara Lind (@DLind) May 8, 2016
That person is Bartolo Colon.
I'm against the use of steroids and performance enhancing drugs in baseball unless Bartolo Colon is the one using them

By smartly giving up that three-run HR to Jon Jay, Bartolo assures that his HR is the game-winning home run

Baseball is just the best.
