On Saturday, the Salt Lake Bees (Triple-A affiliate of the Angels) hosted the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals) in extreme wind. Like, this wasn't "wow, it's windy outside" weather. It was "holy smokes, I'm gonna blow away" weather, because there was a high wind warning issued. Gusts were reportedly up to 70 miles per hour.
Knowing that context, it's not all too surprising that we saw perhaps baseball's first ever wind-caused balk. The wind gusted and just blew Salt Lake's Troy Scribner off the mound.
That's gotta be a tough one to swallow, though it's hardly Scribner's fault.
You gotta love all the different ways baseball can entertain us.
