Ortiz provided some insight on how to have a good career

As best as we can tell, here's what Ortiz said:
"There is one thing I can tell you guys about having a great career at this level. It's the fact that everyday ... everyday you have to expect to bring something to the table for your ballclub. It doesn't matter how you feel, sometimes you're not going to feel 100 percent you can do it, but the most important thing is your mindset. There's days your mind tells you 'you can't go' you say 'yes I can.' That's what makes the difference.
If that is Ortiz's secret, it has obviously worked out well for him. In addition to a Hall of Fame-worthy career, Ortiz is authoring one of the greatest farewell seasons we've ever seen. He entered the break hitting .332/.426/.682 with 22 home runs. Only Ortiz can say for sure whether his mindset helped manifest all that success, but since he's saying, then who are we to argue?
