WATCH: Johnny Cueto does the shoulder shimmy to strike out Cruz
Royals righty Johnny Cueto used his patented shoulder shimmy to strike out Nelson Cruz on Thursday.
The Royals have a chance to clinch the AL Central title on Thursday. It'll take both a win over the Mariners (GameTracker) and a Twins loss to the Indians (GameTracker).
Kansas City has the right guy on the mound to pitch the potential clincher in trade deadline pickup Johnny Cueto. Cueto has struggled a bit since coming over from the Reds, but he was on his game Thursday, so much so that he broke out an exaggerated shoulder shimmy to strike out Nelson Cruz.
Check it out:
Cueto's been doing that for years and years, but I feel like he's been doing it even more often this season. I guess that comes with veteran experience? The shimmy certainly disrupts a hitter's timing. Just look at Cruz's swing.
By the way, whenever the Royals do clinch the AL Central -- it's an inevitability at this point, they have a huge lead -- it will be their first division title since 1985. That, coincidentally, was the last time they won the World Series.
