WATCH: Red Sox's bid for a combined no-hitter broken up by infield single
Steve Pearce won't be a popular man in Boston
Give Red Sox southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez this much: he keeps things interesting.
Lately that's been a good thing, and it was again on Tuesday night. Rodriguez held the Orioles without a hit through his first four innings. He then threw two pitches in the fifth (both balls) before exiting due to what was later termed a tight hamstring. His status heading forward is unclear.

In Rodriguez's place, the Red Sox inserted Matt Barnes, who promptly walked the first batter he saw. From there, Barnes would take the no-hitter into the seventh inning. After retiring Manny Machado and issuing a walk to Mark Trumbo, Barnes allowed the Orioles' first hit in the most frustrating way:
Yes, that's how the combined no-hitter effort came to a close -- with an infield single by Steve Pearce. Go figure.
