WATCH: Trained bald eagle escapes Dodger Stadium on Fourth of July
What better way to celebrate Independence Day than by watching a bald eagle gain its freedom?
Monday is Independence Day, so all across the country teams held pregame ceremonies to celebrate the Fourth of July. Giant flags were sprawled across the outfield, guest singers sang the National Anthem, and postgame fireworks were enjoyed by all.
As part of their pregame ceremony prior to Monday's game with the Orioles, the Dodgers had a trained bald eagle fly around Dodger Stadium. What's more American than a bald eagle and baseball? Nothing. Nothing I tell you.
There was only one small problem. After the bald eagle finished its routine flying around the ballpark, it did not return to its handler. No, the eagle hightailed it and flew right out of Dodger Stadium, presumably in search of glorious freedom. To the action footage:

We have independent confirmation of he bald eagle's escape as well:
So the trained bald eagle flying around Dodger Stadium pregame just flew past its handler, out of the park and didn't come back #Murica

I have to say, watching a bald eagle take advantage of the opportunity to fly away from its handler in search of freedom is as patriotic as it gets. Pretty fitting for Independence Day, I'd say.
There's no word on whether the bald eagle returned at some point later. Wherever it is, I hope it's safe.
