Odd elevator incident keeps fighter out of octagon for UFC 203
C.B. Dollaway suffered a back injury while riding an elevator on Friday afternoon
This is probably the oddest story I've heard of in mixed martial arts. Light heavyweight fighter C.B. Dollaway has been forced to pull out of his fight at UFC 203 against Francimar Barroso after suffering a back injury while riding an elevator.
Yes, an elevator. Dollaway was riding an elevator Friday afternoon at his Cleveland hotel when it malfunctioned and fell several floors.
"UFC announced that CB Dollaway has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 203 due to an injury he suffered last night as a result of an elevator accident at a hotel in Cleveland," the organization said in a statement. "UFC officials have been in communication with hotel management, and the hotel is currently evaluating and investigating the issues surrounding the incident."
Many UFC fighters were involved in the incident as Urijah Faber posted this picture on his Instagram after he and eight others were able to get out.
UFC 203 will continue with 10 total fights on Saturday. Dollaway-Barroso was scheduled to lead off the UFC 203 prelims on FS1. Dollaway is currently on a three-fight losing streak and Barroso suffered a submission loss in May.
