UFC 209 results: Alistair Overeem stops Mark Hunt with vicious knee to the head
The heavyweight contender looked as fresh as ever on Saturday night
Alistair Overeem may get another shot at the heavyweight title after all. The Dutchman coming off a TKO loss to champion Stipe Miocic didn’t come out of the gate aggressive and instead stayed patient, waiting for his chance to strike against Mark Hunt on Saturday at UFC 209.
After Hunt opened up a huge gash on his shin to open the fight, Overeem never got baited into a slugfest. He stayed within himself and opted for the clinch game, holding Hunt’s shoulders and preventing those huge punches.
Then, once Overeem got the opening, he landed huge knees to the head of Hunt, dropping him face first to the canvas.

“We’re not done yet,” Overeem said after the fight.
The 36-year-old is now 3-1 in his last four fights with all ending via KO/TKO. If Miocic is successful in his title defense against Junior dos Santos this May, we very well may see that rematch Overeem wants.
