Damian Lillard's new rap song uses Steph Curry, Westbrook in rhymes
Damian Lillard shows off his lyrical flow with his rap song "Soldier in the Game."
Damian Lillard is a man of many talents. While he is the All-Star point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard also dabbles in rap music. Basically every Friday on social media, Lillard manages his #4BarFriday campaign, where anyone can send him their best short rap. Lillard doesn't just listen to others rap though. He likes to showcase his lyrical talents whenever he gets the chance.
Sure, Lillard is one of the many countless NBA players that try their hand at rapping but the difference is, he's actually pretty good. Just listen to Lillard's latest track, Soldier in the Game, which uses the beat from Future's hit Commas.
Not bad right?
The lyrics are also well done:
My first encounter with adversity, was somewhat an emergency /
I fell off the path and my mental it needed surgery /
The more I stumbled off the more my actions started erking me/
I got it together and the top looked like my turf to be/They think money rules im rich and I'm done with school/
My problems still exist so don't listen to none them fools /
For currency they runnin they lives into paid in full /
I took a task and made it cash now my path done became cool/My life came full circle at the park was throwing left hooks/
Now I'm in the league with Steph Curry and Russell Westbrook /
Took a couple bumps boy you never would see my chest shook /
My heart came from a lion this path only the best took/
Lillard is a far better basketball player than a rapper, but you have to give him credit for his lyrical skills.
