Denied by the Heat, Chris Bosh remains focused on making an NBA return
The vet says he wants to keep playing because of his love for the game, and not the money
On media day, Pat Riley made it crystal clear. After failing a physical due to a recurring blood clot issue, the Heat president said Chris Bosh would never play for Miami again.
This was surprising news for Bosh as he claimed that neither Riley nor the Heat organization reached out to him. He had to find out about the news via the media. Still, Bosh is remaining undaunted and believes his NBA career is far from over.
In a video for his Uninterrupted series released on Tuesday, Bosh said he is going to try to continue his career -- not for the money but for the love of the game.
Bosh's comments in the video were transcribed by the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson:
"I'm going to try to play basketball," he said. "We're going to go everywhere and do everything it takes to get back out there. If people can't understand that, you don't understand being a winner. I just choose to follow my dreams."
...
"People who see the money and see my situation and say, 'Hey just walk away.' I totally get it. I understand it. But I'm not really thinking about money. I'm thinking about where my heart is. I love the NBA. I love playing basketball every day for a living."
It is admirable that Bosh is not giving up on playing again. However, with his condition it is hard to see another team giving him another shot, especially since the Heat were so adamant about him not being able to play. Other teams might not want to be responsible for anything bad happening to Bosh if he joins their team. But Bosh remains committed. Who knows; perhaps his NBA career is not officially over just yet.
