From Dirk Nowitzki to Kobe Bryant, New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis has been drawing rave reviews from a number of NBA stars. Even Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is impressed with Porzingis. According to Durant, Porzingis is such an unique player, he is like a unicorn.

That's right, Durant compared Porzingis to a mythical creature when he was talking with reporters on Tuesday.

"I think we've gotten away from enjoying the skilled players in this league," Durant said, via Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post. "We've got so many guys that are athletic, and big and strong, but he's (Porzingis) a skilled player. He can shoot, he can make the right plays, he can defend, he's a 7-footer that can shoot all the way out to the 3-point line. That's rare. And block shots, that's like, a unicorn in this league. You’ve got to respect what he’s doing. This being New York City, everything is under a microscope, but he’s progressing at a high rate pretty fast, and he’s gonna be a force."

Durant isn't saying anything about Porzingis that hasn't been said before. The Knicks rookie has making an impact on both ends of the floor all season and has already racked up two Rookie of the Month awards. The skill set Porzingis has coupled with his size makes him a rather rare player in the NBA.

This is what Durant was basically alluding to when he called Porzingis a unicorn. It may be a rather strange comparison, since unicorns don't exist (unless KD knows something we don't) but Durant is not wrong. Porzingis is just that unique of a player.
