Kevin Durant shocked the world when he decided to head to the Bay Area and sign with the Golden State Warriors on a two-year contract. It was stunning to see an MVP-caliber player go team up with the team he almost beat, but that was the decision he made. However, he did give himself an out to not only make the most money possible, but potentially leave if the pairing was a complete disaster.

Durant's contract with Golden State was a two-year deal worth $54 million with an opt-out clause after the first year. Two-year contracts like his were popular at the time among high-level superstars, because the NBA's cap was rising and a new CBA was about to go into effect. By signing that type of contract Durant guaranteed himself he wouldn't miss out on the most money possible. However, if for whatever reason he wasn't happy in Golden State, or the pairing just didn't work out it also gave him a chance to leave and play elsewhere. That however doesn't appear it will be the case. Durant told ESPN's The Undefeated that he has no plans of leaving Golden State.

Yeah. I love it here. I love my teammates. I love the city [of Oakland, California]. I love the organization. I love it here. I don't plan on going anywhere else.

Durant saying that he doesn't plan on leaving shouldn't be a surprise. He said earlier in the same interview that going to Golden State was 100 percent the right decision. However, there's always that slightest concern deep in a fan's mind that a player might get up and leave one day, so for fans it has to be nice to get that confirmation he's going to stay.
