NBA Draft 2017: Celtics to interview No. 1 projected pick Markelle Fultz at combine
The Celtics already have a point guard but that isn't stopping them from doing their due diligence
The Celtics have the highest odds to win the NBA Lottery this season thanks to owning the league worst Nets pick. As a result not only is Boston currently battling for a chance to head to the Eastern Conference finals, but they're also doing their work to prepare for at worst a top-four pick in the draft.
Wednesday, Boston is expected to interview point guard Markelle Fultz out of Washington at the NBA Combine. Fultz is currently projected as the No. 1 overall pick by many draft experts, but what's really interesting about this is that the Celtics are the ones interviewing Fultz.

If Boston wins the lottery and ends up with the No. 1 overall pick they're going to have a lot of tough decisions to make. The top of the draft is stacked with point guards at the moment and that is a position the Celtics have no problem filling. Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and Avery Bradley are already on the roster and all possess the ability to play point guard. The Celtics taking Fultz would flood an already stacked position.
However, this doesn't mean Boston is doing anything wrong by giving Fultz an interview. Every team should do as much homework as possible with their pick and Boston is looking at the current best player available. There is nothing wrong with that.
