Chandler Parsons has ruled out a return to Dallas but he is reportedly considering teaming up with one of the Mavs' targets in free agency. According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, Parsons and Mike Conley have talked about teaming up together in Memphis:

League sources say Mike Conley and Chandler Parsons have had multiple conversations about playing together in Memphis. They never talked about teaming up in Dallas.

Parsons, who has ruled out a return to Dallas, will meet with the Grizzlies on Friday in Los Angeles. Conley is scheduled to meet with the Mavs in Dallas.

The Grizzlies are one of the teams that reportedly will offer Parsons a max contract so Conley could just be doing some recruiting for Memphis. Parsons is a very versatile player and could be a nice fit in Memphis, with his three-point shooting (41.4 percent from three last season) being a big boost for the Grizzlies, who have desperately needing a shooter for the past several seasons.

It is interesting that Conley is still planning on meeting with the Mavs, especially since Dallas missed out on Hassan Whiteside and doesn't seem to have the same talent as Memphis. Conley will likely be better off signing a max deal in Memphis and then convincing Parsons to do to the same. The Mavs may not even realistically have a chance with Conley if the Grizzlies are able to land Parsons, a move that could help reinforce their status in the West.
