The Warriors made mincemeat of the Lakers in their second matchup of the season on Wednesday, winning 149-106. Golden State scored 80 points in the first half and had a franchise record 47 assists.

Klay Thompson was disappointed they didn't drop 150.

Well, Golden State will get its chance Friday as they play the Lakers again in L.A.

How to watch

When: Friday, 10:30 p.m. ET

Who: Los Angeles Lakers

Where: Staples Center in Los Angeles, California

TV: NBA TV

Streaming: Sling, Playstation Vue

At a glance

Replay of Wednesday: With nothing really changing between the two teams, could this game end up being a replay of their last meeting? It is very likely, especially since Julius Randle is questionable to play and D'Angelo Russell remains out after getting a PRP injection in his left knee. The only difference is that this is a home game for the Lakers.

The Lakers are a solid 5-3 at home this season and have already beat the Warriors at Staples Center, but this Golden State team will be extra motivated to get a win in the building where it took an embarrassing 20-point loss. The Warriors have a stellar 8-1 road record but for some reason, playing in Staples has been difficult for them.

Tie-Breaker: The season series is now tied up at 1-1 and both teams will be vying to take control on Friday. Golden State has all of of the momentum.

Since losing by 20 points to the Lakers in Los Angeles on Nov. 4, the Warriors have won nine straight games and are beginning to look like the super team many envisioned when Kevin Durant announced he was heading west. Their offense is clicking and their defense is steadily improving. The Lakers will look to play the role of the spoiler again but the odds are against them.

Ball movement: Golden State's ball movement has just been sensational as of late. As a team, the Warriors have recorded 30 or more assists in a frachise-record nine straight games, which of course includes their aforementioned 47-assist game against the Lakers. You just can't defend all their shooters/scorers when they move the ball like they are right now.

Ingram showing promise: With Russell and Randle out, rookie Brandon Ingram got the start against the Warriors in Oakland and he had one of his better games of the season. Ingram scored a career-high 16 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist in 34 minutes of action. He also shot 50 percent from both the field (6-of-12) and three (2-for-4). The Lakers need someone to step offensively with Randle and Russell being injured and if Ingram can continue do that, it is a promising sign for Los Angeles and for the young rookie.

Key matchups

Lakers Bench vs Warriors Bench: Golden State has a talented and deep bench with Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston but don't sleep on Los Angeles' bench.

Led by Lou Williams and Jordan Clarkson, the Lakers' bench is leading all second-units in scoring at 52.1 points per game. Williams is also the Lakers' leading scorer, averaging 16.6 points while shooting 47.3 percent and 43.2 percent from three. The Lakers' bench may be their only competitive advantage against the Warriors.

Stephen Curry vs Jose Calderon: Poor, poor Jose. By no means a good defender, Calderon, who is starting in place of Russell, will have to try and contain Curry for the second straight game. He will get plenty of help from his teammates to be sure, but the Lakers have the second-worst defense in the league and Calderon will start matched up against Curry, which is just trouble for Los Angeles. Curry hit the Lakers for 31 points on Wednesday.

PICK: Warriors (-13.5)

This line seems about right as the short tryptophan-heavy holiday break and the travel could cause the Warriors to start off slow. But overall, the Lakers are just heavily outmatched and it wouldn't be surprising if Golden State wins by 20 or more again.
