Brandon McManus will return to Denver in 2016 after signing his tender, the team's official site reports.
McManus excelled in his first full year on the job in 2015, ranking fifth in league in both field goals, 30, and field goals of 50 yards or longer, five. A big leg combined with eight games Denver's thin air tends to add up to a quality fantasy kicker. McManus' real-life football value might dip in 2016, however. His booming leg led him to rank fifth in the league with 55 touchbacks in 2015 - a skill that will lose some of its appeal now that touchbacks will be taken out to the 25-yard line.
Brandon McManus drilled both field-goal attempts and a pair of field goals during Sunday's AFC championship game victory versus the Patriots.
McManus is pacing the postseason leaderboard with 23 points, which was powered by five field goals made in the divisional round against the Steelers. Including playoffs, he's posted an 88.1-percent success rate in that realm, a mark that would rank ninth among all kickers that logged a full 16-game slate in the regular season. Nonetheless, he'll have his work cut out for him in Super Bowl 50 against a Panthers unit that conceded the second-fewest points per game to kickers (6.0) in 2015.
Brandon McManus finished off the regular-season as the tenth leading-scorer in the league with 125 points, converting 30 of 35 field-goals and 35 of 36 PATs.
McManus delivered in his sophomore campaign, leading the Denver Broncos in scoring. He was perfect on the season from the 39-yard line and under and went 10 of 15 beyond the 40-yard line, including a five of seven mark for kicks over fifty yards. He'll look to continue his success in the Broncos' playoff push before becoming a free agent in the offseason.
A week after getting five field goal attempts, McManus was back to his relatively low-usage ways, as he's failed to hit multiple field goals in six of his last seven games. The
Brandon McManus connected on his lone field-goal attempt, a 24-yarder, and hit both of his PATs during Sunday's 17-15 win over the Bears.
After hitting multiple field goals in five of the first seven games, McManus is just 2-for-2 over the last three weeks, adding six PATs. The offense moved the ball much better Sunday with Brock Osweiler under center, though they'll likely have a tougher time in Week 12 against the Patriots, which may allow McManus a few more attempts.
