| Welker set to get franchise tag: Wes Welker is expected to get the franchise tag from the Patriots before the start of free agency, according to the Boston Globe. The report adds that things could turn ugly between Welker and the team including a holdout potentially going as long as possible. Welker played big in his contract year, catching 122 passes for a career-best 1,569 yards and career-high nine touchdowns in 2011. (Updated 02/09/2012) |

| We'd be shocked if Welker wasn't signed up in time for training camp -- he's been entrenched in the Patriots system for years and understands his role on the team and how the team operates. Welker will be 31 years old by the time the season starts, however as long as he remains in the Patriots’ offense he has to be considered a top-notch Fantasy option.
