Top Sabres News

  • Sabres' Josh Dunne: Picks up assist

Dunne logged an assist and two hits in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Senators.

Dunne remains a part-time option on the fourth line for the Sabres. The 27-year-old had gone five games without a point prior to Tuesday, and he was scratched five times in that span. For the season, he's contributed four points, 18 shots on net, 25 hits and 29 PIM over 23 appearances in his first season as an NHL regular despite the limited playing time.

  • Sabres' Jordan Greenway: Contributes helper in win

Greenway notched an assist and four shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Senators.

Greenway continues to see a part-time role, as the Sabres occasionally scratch him to mitigate injury risk for the winger. The 28-year-old snapped a nine-game point drought with this helper. He's up to four points, 22 shots on net, 27 hits, 19 PIM and a minus-9 rating through 21 appearances, and it's unlikely he'll be a factor in fantasy from the fourth line.

  • Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Puts away goal

Ostlund scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Senators.

Ostlund has scored three times over five games since he was recalled from AHL Rochester. He's taken on a second-line role at even strength, though he remains out of the power-play mix during this NHL stint. For the season, the 21-year-old has six goals, nine points, 27 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 25 appearances.

  • Sabres' Bowen Byram: Leads charge in OT win

Byram scored two goals, one the overtime winner, and added an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Senators.

The 24-year-old blueliner opened and closed the scoring on the night while helping to set up Noah Ostlund for a second-period tally in between. The three points were a season high for Byram, and four of his eight goals on the season have come in December -- a month in which he's produced six points in 11 games.

  • Sabres' Alex Lyon: Nabs sixth straight win

Lyon stopped 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Senators.

The veteran netminder held Ottawa off the board in the third period and OT to secure his sixth straight win. Lyon has re-claimed the top spot in the Buffalo crease with the hot streak, and through seven outings in December he's posted a stellar 2.14 GAA and .924 save percentage to go along with his pristine 6-0-0 record.

  • Sabres' Tyson Kozak: Not playing Tuesday

Kozak (upper body) won't play against Ottawa on Tuesday, per Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.

Kozak participated in Tuesday's morning skate, but he will miss his third straight game. He has chipped in two goals, four points, 19 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and 62 hits across 24 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Alex Lyon: Patrolling crease Tuesday

Lyon will be in goal on the road against the Senators on Tuesday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.

Lyon is undefeated in his last five outings while posting a 2.31 GAA and .922 save percentage. With the 33-year-old netminder performing at this level, it seems head coach Lindy Ruff is content to ride the hot hand and utilize Lyon ahead of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

  • Sabres' Peyton Krebs: First goal finds vacant net

Krebs scored an empty-net goal on three shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Devils.

Krebs hadn't scored all year, but despite his futility, he's spent the last four games in a top-line gig. He's made the most of it with three points in that span, but the 24-year-old is a bit miscast that high in the lineup. Overall, he's posted one goal, 10 assists, 42 shots on net, 85 hits, 21 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a minus-6 rating through 35 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Zach Benson: Nets game-winner Sunday

Benson scored a goal and added two PIM in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Devils.

Benson has three goals and two assists over his last five games. The 20-year-old's tally at 16:05 of the second period stood as the game-winner Sunday. He's up to three goals, 16 points, 41 shots on net and a plus-4 rating through 22 appearances. Benson's appeal is limited in a third-line role, but the Sabres' lineup is far from settled, and he'll be more intriguing if he finds himself in a top-six spot eventually.

  • Sabres' Josh Norris: Scores equalizer in Sunday's win

Norris scored a goal in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Devils.

Norris' tally early in the second period answered Jack Hughes' goal from the first. The 26-year-old Norris has gotten on the scoresheet in seven of his last eight games, racking up four goals and six assists in that span. He's in a second-line role and looking productive as long as he can avoid another lengthy injury absence.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Takes down Devils

Luukkonen stopped 26 of 27 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Devils.

Even with reinforcements, the Devils weren't able to stop the suddenly hot Sabres. Luukkonen did his part after being on the bench for five straight games since he was pulled from his Dec. 8 loss versus the Flames. The 26-year-old is up to 5-5-1 with a 2.73 GAA and an .892 save percentage over 11 appearances this season. Alex Lyon has played too well to relinquish the crease, but Luukkonen is at least back to applying some pressure after the latter's struggles earlier in the month. The Sabres' next game is Tuesday versus the Senators.

  • Sabres' Tyson Kozak: Remains out for Sunday's game

Kozak (upper body) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Devils, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

Kozak was unavailable for Saturday's matchup against the Islanders due to his upper-body injury, and he'll remain sidelined for the second half of the back-to-back set Sunday. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but his final opportunity to suit up before the holiday break will be Tuesday against Ottawa.

  • Sabres' Peyton Krebs: Reaches double-digit assists

Krebs recorded an assist, blocked a shot and dished out three hits in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Islanders.

Krebs played a hand in Tage Thompson's goal midway through the second period, which gave the Sabres a 2-0 lead. With the apple, Krebs is up to 10 assists, 39 shots on goal, 84 hits and 20 blocks through 34 outings this season. While he is yet to score a goal this season, the 24-year-old forward has three helpers in his last six outings. With Jason Zucker (lower body) likely out until after Christmas Day, Krebs has moved up to the Sabres' top line and should see heightened usage in the interim. While he lacks the high-end scoring potential of other Buffalo forwards, his category coverage of 84 hits, which ranks second on the team, gives him decent streaming value in deep fantasy formats for the time being.

  • Sabres' Josh Norris: Scores winning tally in shootout

Norris scored in the shootout and had two shots on goal in a 3-2 win over the Islanders on Saturday.

Norris sent the Sabres home with a win after he tallied the winning score in Saturday's shootout. Despite getting involved in the shootout, the 26-year-old center was held off the scoresheet for the first time in his last seven games since his return from an upper-body injury. Overall, he is up to nine points and 16 shots on net through eight appearances this season. When healthy, Norris is a near lock to see top-six minutes and is a strong fantasy option in all point-based formats.

  • Sabres' Jack Quinn: Tallies to extend shootout

Quinn scored in the shootout and had two shots on goal in a 3-2 win over the Islanders on Saturday.

Quinn recorded a wrist-shot tally to score Buffalo's first tally in Saturday's shootout. Despite not tallying a point in regulation to extend his three-game point streak, the 24-year-old forward has been solid this season with 18 points and 63 shots on net across 34 games. Quinn is one of many exciting young forwards in the Sabres' top nine and sees a decent portion of ice time alongside Zach Benson and Ryan McLeod on the team's third line. If he receives an increase to his role down the stretch of the season, he could see some added value in deep fantasy leagues.

  • Sabres' Josh Doan: Distributes helper Saturday

Doan tallied an assist and placed two shots on goal in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Islanders.

Doan slid the primary helper on his linemate Tage Thompson's goal midway through the second period. With the helper, Doan is up to 14 assists, 24 points, 87 shots on net and 30 hits through 34 games this season. While he's already set career highs in most of the major stat categories offensively, he moved just one shot shy of tying the 88 shots on goal he had through 51 games a season ago. The 23-year-old forward is in a fantastic spot to continue to produce points on the Sabres' top line. His breakout campaign is just getting started, leaving him with plenty of opportunities to secure a new contract with Buffalo once his current deal expires at the end of the 2025-26 season. Doan is on pace for 58 points this season if he can stay healthy, giving him solid value in most fantasy leagues for the rest of the year.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Goal streak up to six

Thompson scored a goal and put four shots on net in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Islanders.

Thompson maintained his elite stretch of play Saturday, as he doubled the Sabres' lead midway through the second period. With the twine finder, he is up to 18 goals, 31 points, 123 shots on net and 37 hits through 34 games this season. The 28-year-old forward has been on fire as of late, as he used Saturday's score to extend his goal streak to six games. He has added three assists and 22 shots on goal during that stretch, proving that he hasn't lost a step in his ability to maintain a high shot volume. With the 2026 Winter Olympic Games roster selections right around the corner, Thompson is heating up at the right time to make a strong case for his inclusion on Team USA. With 40-plus goal potential, Thompson's category coverage makes him an elite player in fantasy even after his goal streak ends.
