Top Red Wings News

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Adds two helpers in win

Seider logged a pair of assists, four shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.

Seider heads into the holiday break on a heater with seven points, including three power-play helpers, over his last five games. The 24-year-old defenseman helped out on an Emmitt Finnie power-play goal in the third period before setting up Dylan Larkin's game-winner in overtime. Seider is up to 29 points (13 with the man advantage), 90 shots on net, 65 hits, 80 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a plus-13 rating through 38 appearances. He's on pace for his first career 60-point campaign, though he has sacrificed a bit of physicality this year.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Dominant December continues

Gibson made 19 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over Dallas on Tuesday.

Two of the goals came on the power play. December has been Gibson's month. He's 8-0-0 with two shutouts and a .927 save percentage. Gibson's overall stat line remains average (3.01 GAA and .891 save percentage), so there might be a manager or two who haven't noticed he's gotten hot. You might be able to get him relatively cheap.

  • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Four points in last four games

Finnie notched a power-play goal Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win over Dallas. He fired five shots.

Finnie scooped up his own rebound and shelved a wrist shot over Casey DeSmith to tie the game 2-2 at 3:02 of the third period. Finnie has two goals and two assists in his last four games and three goals in his last six. He also has 13 shots in that six-game stretch. Overall, his 19 points in 38 games have him squarely in the top five of the rookie scoring list this season. That's sweet for a seventh-rounder (2023).

  • Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: Elevates game again

Raymond picked three apples Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.

Two came with the man advantage. Raymond simply continues to grow his game and fantasy value. He's on pace to top 90 points for the first time in his career, and he's in the NHL's top-10 for assists. Raymond has also impressively flipped the switch on his two-way game, and he's a remarkable plus-7 after recording negative scores in that category for the first four years of his career -- his previous best was minus-12. That's quite a swing.

  • Red Wings' James van Riemsdyk: Warming trend continues

Van Riemsdyk had a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.

He opened the scoring with a shot that he flipped over Casey DeSmith's shoulder from the edge of the crease. Van Riemsdyk has started to warm up a bit in the last month. He has eight goals and one assist in 14 games after putting up just one of each in his first 17 outings. Yes, he's slow and long in the tooth, but JVR's mitts are as silky as they have ever been. He may offer you match-up value in dailies.

  • Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Singlehandedly extinguishes Stars

Larkin scored twice Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win over Dallas.

Larkin extinguished the Stars' hopes with a game-tying power-play goal with 4:03 left, and then he beat Casey DeSmith with a wrist shot from the high slot just 34 seconds into the overtime frame. Larkin has three goals in his last three games after a four-game drought. His shooting percentage remains bloated at 17.2, which is significantly higher than his 11.2 career average. However, he's showing no signs of slowing down. Larkin has 20 goals, 16 assists and 116 shots in 38 games.

  • Red Wings' Sheldon Dries: Gets AHL weekly honor

Dries was named the AHL Player of the Week on Monday.

Dries is one of many players having an excellent year for AHL Grand Rapids. Last week, he accumulated two goals, four assists and a plus-8 rating over three appearances. He's at 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) over 22 appearances this season. However, he continues to wait for a call-up opportunity.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: In goal Tuesday

Gibson will get the starting nod at home versus the Stars on Tuesday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Gibson is riding a seven-game winning streak during which he has posted a 2.00 GAA, two shutouts and a .934 save percentage. With an upcoming back-to-back coming out of the Christmas break, Gibson figures to split the starts against the Hurricanes and Maple Leafs on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with Cam Talbot.

  • Red Wings' Carter Gylander: Earns first AHL shutout

Gylander posted a 22-save shutout in AHL Grand Rapids' 5-0 win over Cleveland on Sunday.

This was Gylander's first AHL shutout in 10 career appearances at the level. The 24-year-old netminder is in the second and final year of his entry-level contract, but he hasn't had a clear path to playing time for the Griffins, as prospect Sebastian Cossa has commanded a lot of the crease for the AHL's top team. Over seven outings, Gylander has still managed a stellar 6-0-1 record with a 1.57 GAA and a .943 save percentage this season.

  • Red Wings' Axel Sandin-Pellikka: Helps out on power play in victory

    Sandin-Pellikka secured a power-play assist in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over Washington.

Sandin-Pellikka also had one blocked shot, one takeaway and a minus-2 rating in 15:50 of ice time in this matchup. The young defenseman set up Lucas Raymond's goal with the man advantage to tie the game at 1-1 during the middle frame. Sandin-Pellikka now has two goals and six helpers across his last 10 appearances, and he's up to 14 points (five on the power play) through 37 games overall in 2025-26.

  • Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Gets on scoresheet in OT win

DeBrincat earned a primary assist and went minus-1 in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Capitals.

DeBrincat recorded a helper on John Leonard's goal in the second period, which gave Detroit a 2-1 lead. The 28-year-old DeBrincat had gone two games without a point following a hot stretch in which he produced eight goals and 13 points across eight contests. The right-shot winger is at 20 goals, 40 points, 135 shots on net and a plus-5 rating through 37 outings in 2025-26.

  • Red Wings' John Leonard: Scores again Sunday

Leonard scored an even-strength goal on two shots and went minus-1 in 14:00 of ice time Sunday in a 3-2 overtime win over Washington.

Leonard has scored in back-to-back contests, both against the Capitals, and he's riding a three-game point streak (two goals, one assist). The 27-year-old is making his case to stay with the big club for the foreseeable future -- he was recalled from the minors last Sunday and has played in four straight games after not playing in the NHL last year.

  • Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: Strikes with man advantage

Raymond potted a power-play goal on five shots and blocked two shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Capitals.

Raymond tied the score at 1-1 at 8:37 of the second period for his 11th goal of the campaign, four of which have come with the man advantage. The right-shot winger's 21:13 of ice time Sunday trailed only Dylan Larkin for the most among Detroit forwards. Raymond entered this matchup on an eight-game goal drought, but he had six helpers during that stretch. The 23-year-old is up to 27 assists, 38 points, 77 shots on net and a plus-6 rating through 35 appearances in 2025-26.

... See More ... See Less
  • Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Two apples in victory

Copp generated two even-strength helpers and two shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Capitals on Sunday.

Copp banked an assist on John Leonard's second goal of the season and set up Moritz Seider for the game-winner at 4:36 of overtime. The 31-year-old Copp has been a steady contributor as the second-line center lately -- he has two goals and 11 points across his last 10 games. The Michigan native should continue to have opportunities to contribute offensively so long as he remains in that role.

  • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Notches two helpers on home ice

Finnie logged two secondary assists, including one on the power play, in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over Washington.

Finnie helped out on Lucas Raymond's power-play goal in the second period, and he also assisted on Moritz Seider's game-winner in overtime. Finnie had gone eight games without registering an assist, but he had three goals on 17 shots during that stretch. Through 37 outings this season, the 20-year-old has eight goals, 18 points and a plus-3 rating while averaging 16:48 of ice time in a top-six role.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Pots game-winner Sunday

Seider netted the game-winning goal on two shots, blocked four shots and went plus-1 in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Capitals.

Seider logged a game-high 26:44 of ice time in this contest, and he sealed the game during the extra frame with a slap shot past Charlie Lindgren. Seider has two goals and five points across his last four games following a four-game dry spell. The right-shot blueliner is on pace for a career year, as he's tracking toward his first 60-point campaign in his sixth NHL season. Seider's durability is also extremely impressive -- he has yet to miss a game during his career.

  • Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Strong performance against Caps

Talbot turned aside 31 of 33 shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over Washington.

Ethen Frank was able to solve Talbot twice Sunday, but no other Capitals skater got a puck past the Detroit netminder. Talbot is now 10-6-2 with an .887 save percentage and a 3.00 GAA through 19 appearances this season. The 38-year-old and John Gibson have alternated starts recently, and if that trend continues, Gibson will likely be in goal for the last game before the three-day holiday break against the Stars on Tuesday.

  • Red Wings' Patrick Kane: Won't play Tuesday either

Kane (upper body) won't suit up Tuesday against the Stars, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports Sunday.

Kane had already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Capitals and will miss a fifth straight game with an upper-body injury Tuesday. The 37-year-old will have the holiday break to further recover, as the Red Wings don't play again until Dec. 27 after Tuesday's game. He has 23 points in 24 games this season.
