Top Rangers News

  • Rangers' Scott Morrow: Gathers assist in win

Morrow recorded an assist, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Capitals.

Morrow has held a steady role in the lineup lately while Adam Fox (upper body) is out. Morrow has two helpers over his last three games, giving him three assists, 14 shots on net, 16 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating in 14 appearances. He's seeing power-play time on the first unit as well, but fantasy managers in redraft formats can afford to wait a little longer to see if he can remain consistent.

  • Rangers' Gabe Perreault: Logs helper in return

Perreault posted an assist in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Capitals.

Perreault missed one game due to an illness, but it didn't slow down the momentum he's building in a second-line role. The Rangers' top prospect has a goal and two assists over three games during his current NHL stint, and if he can keep scoring, he'll likely stay in the lineup. He has earned four points, three shots on net, six blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over six appearances with the big club this year.

  • Rangers' Jonny Brodzinski: Slides pair of helpers

Brodzinski notched two assists, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Capitals.

Brodzinski set up goals by Taylor Raddysh and Vincent Trocheck in this contest. With three points over his last two games, Brodzinski has positioned himself well to stay in the lineup over Conor Sheary. Brodzinski is at eight points, 30 shots on net, 10 hits and a plus-4 rating through 24 appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Four points in last three games

Zibanejad had two assists in a 7-3 win over the Capitals on Tuesday.

Zibanejad has four points, including three assists, and three shots in his last three games. One goal and an assist came on the power play. Toss out his one point in his first six games, and you have a guy with 28 points in 32 contests. That would very much be a typical Zibanejad output, aside from his point-per-game runs during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 regular seasons.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Four wins in last five games

Shesterkin made 29 saves in a 7-3 win over the Capitals on Tuesday.

The game was tight until the second half of the third period when Shesterkin's teammates scored five unanswered goals, starting at the 8:10 mark, to seal the win. He's 4-1-0 in his last five starts, but he's done it with an .887 save percentage, including two four-goal games.

  • Rangers' Artemi Panarin: Picking up scoring pace

Panarin had a goal and an assist in a 7-3 win over Washington on Tuesday.

His empty-net goal pushed the score to 6-3. Panarin has two two-point games in his last three contests (three goals, one assist, 12 shots). He has 18 points, including eight goals, and 53 shots in his last 14 games. We like this uptick -- Panarin is cruising at a point-per-game pace, but he was drafted for more than that.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: First goal in eight games

Lafreniere had a goal and an assist in a 7-3 win over the Capitals on Tuesday.

Lafreniere potted the winner at 9:18 of the third when he deflected Artemi Panarin's point shot past Logan Thompson. The goal was Lafreniere's first in eight games (one assist). We don't know if he's the valuable 28-goal, 57-point guy from two seasons ago or simply a 40-42 point replaceable waiver piece. However, at some point, 419 regular-season games seem like enough to inform a decision.

  • Rangers' Will Cuylle: Big three-point effort in win

Cuylle had a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Capitals.

Cuylle's goal came on the power play. He scored from the left post, tipping in a pass from Mika Zibanejad to tie the game 2-2 in the second period. Cuylle has five points, including four assists, but just two shots in his last four games. Overall, he's on pace to replicate last season's 20-goal, 45-point, 152-shot season, but his role on the power play has increased the value of his output. Cuylle already has four PPG and four PPA this season; he had eight PPP in his previous 167 regular-season games.

  • Rangers' Vincent Trocheck: Three-point outburst

Trocheck had two goals and an assist in a 7-3 victory over Washington on Tuesday.

His goals came as part of a five-goal flurry in the third period that keyed the Rangers' win. Trocheck drilled in a rebound at 13:43 to push the score to 5-3, and then he scored on a 2-on-1 rush at 18:09 for the 7-3 final. Trocheck's last multi-point game came Nov. 12, so this was nice to see. He has five points, including three goals, and 10 shots in his last four games.

  • Rangers' Taylor Raddysh: Three-point effort keys comeback

Raddysh had two goals and an assist Tuesday in a 7-3 win over the Capitals.

Raddysh opened the scoring in the first period when he jumped into the rush and wired a one-timer off the left post and in. He then tied it 3-3 at 8:10 of the third period when his backhand pass appeared to deflect off Caps defender Matt Roy. Raddysh's goal keyed a five-goal, third-period Rangers flurry. He has four points (two goals, two assists) in his last two games after going nine games without a point. The goals snapped a 23-game drought. Raddysh's last goal came Oct. 30. Tuesday was a great game for him, but don't mistake the outburst for fantasy value.

  • Rangers' Gabe Perreault: Ready to return Tuesday

Perreault (illness) is expected back in the lineup versus Washington on Tuesday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Perreault got some work on the power-play during the game-day skate, clearing the way for him to return to action after one game on the shelf due to his illness. In his five NHL games this year, Perreault has generated one goal, two assists and three shots while averaging 13:38 of ice time.

  • Rangers' Matt Rempe: Set to play

Rempe (illness) is expected to play against Washington on Tuesday, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post.

Rempe sat out Sunday's 2-1 loss to Nashville, but he participated in Tuesday's morning skate and said he's feeling much better. He has compiled one goal, 10 shots on net, 44 hits and seven PIM across 13 appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Gets starting nod Tuesday

Shesterkin will be between the road pipes versus Washington on Tuesday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Shesterkin will be making his 30th start of the season, having gone 15-11-3 with a .908 save percentage and one shutout in his 29 prior outings. Those 30 appearances currently lead the NHL and set the 29-year-old backstop up to reach the 60-game mark for the second straight year.

  • Rangers' Taylor Raddysh: Snaps drought with helper

Raddysh logged an assist and blocked two shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Predators.

Raddysh ended a nine-game point drought with the helper. He was scratched three times in that span, including Saturday versus the Flyers, but the Rangers' lineup was depleted by absences for J.T. Miller (upper body), Gabe Perreault (illness) and Matt Rempe (illness) in Sunday's contest. Raddysh has played 35 games this season, contributing eight points, 28 shots on net, 34 hits and a plus-3 rating, so he's unlikely to be a major part of fantasy managers' plans.

  • Rangers' Jonny Brodzinski: Nets late goal in loss

Brodzinski scored a goal on five shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Nashville.

Brodzinski tallied his third goal of the season to play spoiler in the final minute of Justus Annunen's shutout bid. With the goal, Brodzinski is up to six points and 27 shots on net across 23 games this season. Sunday's goal was his first since Nov. 18, a span of 12 games in which he added just two assists. While his goal is encouraging, It would take a large role change to give Brodzinski fantasy relevance moving forward.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Quick: Allows one goal in loss

Quick turned aside 30 of 31 shots on net in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Predators. The second goal was an empty-netter.

Quick displayed a fantastic effort Sunday, as he allowed just one even-strength goal before the Predators scored an empty-netter. With the loss, he now has a 3-5-1 record with a 1.78 GAA and a .937 save percentage across nine appearances this season. When he's been called upon to start so Igor Shesterkin can rest, Quick has turned back the clock and played at an elite level. Among goalies with nine appearances or more, he has the best save percentage and GAA. What could be considered even more impressive, however, is the fact that he's lost each of his last five starts and his stats have continued to triumph. The 39-year-old netminder is one of the best spot-start options in fantasy and can still provide value in his 19th NHL season.

  • Rangers' J.T. Miller: Moves to IR

Miller (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

The Rangers recalled Brett Berard from AHL Hartford in a corresponding move. Miller sat out Sunday's 2-1 loss to Nashville and is week-to-week after sustaining an injury in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over Philadelphia. It's unclear when he will be available to return to the lineup. Miller has accounted for 10 goals, 22 points, 77 shots on net and 74 hits through 35 appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Brett Berard: Recalled from AHL

Berard was recalled from AHL Hartford on Monday.

Berard has made 11 appearances with the Rangers this year, and he's been held without a point. He's recorded 15 hits, nine blocked shots and six PIM while averaging 10:59 of ice time. He'll rejoin the NHL club ahead of the holiday break after J.T. Miller (upper body) was placed on injured reserve.
