The 110-meter hurdles require a rare combination of speed, leaping ability and concentration. Faltering on any of those elements can ruin your race -- two of those things going wrong can lead to outright disaster.
Haiti's Jeffrey Julmis learned that the hard way on Tuesday night in his semifinal race, as he crashed in spectacular fashion on the first hurdle. Julmis failed to get his lead leg anywhere close to over the hurdle and tumbled to the track tangled up in the hurdle.

Julmis was not injured on the crash and showed a lot of heart by getting up and completing the rest of the race as the crowd cheered.
