What to Know

The St. John's Red Storm and the Butler Bulldogs will face off in a Big East clash at noon ET Feb. 5 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The teams split their matchups last year, with the Red Storm winning the first 69-57 at home and Butler taking the second 76-73.

St. John's didn't have too much trouble with the Georgetown Hoyas on the road on Thursday as they won 90-77. Five players on St. John's scored in the double digits: guard Julian Champagnie (27), center Joel Soriano (14), forward Aaron Wheeler (13), guard Dylan Addae-Wusu (11), and guard Posh Alexander (10). Champagnie hadn't helped his team much against the Providence Friars on Tuesday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

Meanwhile, it was close but no cigar for Butler as they fell 68-66 to the Xavier Musketeers on Wednesday. Guard Jayden Taylor put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 18 points in addition to five boards.

Barring any buzzer beaters, St. John's is expected to win a tight contest Saturday. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it's been tough sledding overall. They are 5-2 ATS in away games but only 9-12 all in all.

St. John's' win lifted them to 11-9 while Butler's loss dropped them down to 11-11. In St. John's' victory, Julian Champagnie shot 6-for-12 from beyond the arc and finished with 27 points and six rebounds and Joel Soriano had 14 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. We'll see if the Bulldogs have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
