What to Know
The San Francisco Dons and the #1 Gonzaga Bulldogs are set to clash at 9 p.m. ET March 7 at Orleans Arena in the fourth round of the West Coast Conference Tourney. San Francisco should still be riding high after a victory, while the Bulldogs will be looking to right the ship.
San Francisco earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing this past Saturday. They captured a comfortable 75-63 win over the Brigham Young Cougars. Guard Jamaree Bouyea and guard Khalil Shabazz were among the main playmakers for San Francisco as the former had 18 points in addition to six rebounds and the latter shot 5-for-9 from downtown and finished with 22 points.
Meanwhile, Gonzaga came up short against the Saint Mary's Gaels last week, falling 67-57. If the result catches you off guard, it should: Gonzaga was far and away the favorite. One thing holding the Bulldogs back was the mediocre play of forward Drew Timme, who did not have his best game: he finished with only six points on 2-for-10 shooting and turned the ball over four times in his 34 minutes on the court.
The Dons ended up a good deal behind Gonzaga when they played when the two teams last met earlier in the regular season, losing 89-73. Can San Francisco avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll soon find out.
